The charming Elwood P. Dowd has a very special friend: Harvey, the six feet three and a half inches tall rabbit that only Elwood seems to be able to see. Elwood’s sister, Veta Louise Simmons, and her daughter, Myrtle Mae, are not very fond of Harvey, as he prevents Myrtle from marrying a respectable and wealthy young gentleman. When Veta decides to take action and commit her brother to the reputable local sanitarium, things do not go quite as planned. Through a string of identities and chance encounters with Harvey himself, comedic chaos ensues.
HARVEY by Mary Chase is a Pulitzer prize-winning comedy in three acts, which premiered in New York City in 1944. In a chaotic and emotional play, the audience is invited to ponder the questions of love and acceptance, led by the funny and utterly optimistic Elwood.
The performances will be accompanied by live music composed for this production.
