Internship in molecular mechanisms of the human microbiota (10-12 months, as soon as possible)

What the position is about 

Within the Antibiotics team of the Infectious Diseases Department of Hoffmann-La Roche we work on molecular mechanisms of the human microbiota. A major focus of this 10-12 month internship will be to support the establishment of a screening platform to identify microbe-host and microbe-microbe interactions. Therefore, we are looking for someone who:

• Has a background in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or Chemistry (enrolled in MSc program or recently graduated)

• Has experience with the isolation and cultivation of bacteria, including Biosafety Level 2 microorganisms

• Enjoys to work as part of a team

• Has an independent and proactive working style

• Is fluent in English and/or German

The following experiences are a plus, but not mandatory:

• Experience with the extraction and purification of bacterial natural products

• Experience with phenotypic antimicrobial activity screenings
