The Position

The position
As a cross-department Postdoctoral Fellow, you will focus on exploratory research projects aimed to characterize, implement and validate human colorectal cancer organoids model systems for their use in the development, screening and Mode of Action (MoA) understanding of next-generation cancer immunotherapy molecules.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate to join our cross-functional team in order to strengthen the use of Patient-Derived Tumor Organoids (PDTOs). You will be responsible for setting up and validating PDTOs co-cultures with TME stromal components.
In this position, you will:
Perform cutting edge science using Patient-Derived Tumor Organoids for the assessment of molecules MoA
Design, prepare and execute experiments and data interpretation
Communicate scientific progress through internal meeting and publications
Collaborate and interact with several departments, including Cancer Immunotherapy, Pharmacology and Institute of Human Biology
Commit to work with a proactive mindset and in close collaboration with a team of experts and project members in order to effectively advance projects
Work with human tumor cell lines
Conduct in-vitro characterization of the activity of novel immunotherapies
Ideally, you have experience and expertise in the following:
Hold a PhD in Cancer Immunology obtained no longer than four years ago
Have a track record of hands-on experience with Organoids (possibly Patient Derived Tumor Organoids)
Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture
Hands-on experience with Multiparametric Flow Cytometry
Expertise in confocal imaging is a plus
Expertise in data analysis (scRNAseq) is a plus
You have very good interpersonal and communication skills, are able to build good working relationships, and are an outstanding teammate. Your experience and investigative attitude allow you to work independently, to design, perform, and interpret experiments, and to embark on new scientific methodologies.
You have been actively engaged in scientific research continuously since your PhD (MD or MD/PhD) and ready to start a postdoctoral activity.
The preferred start date of the internship is August 2023, or upon availability, for a duration of three years. Please clearly indicate your preferred starting date on your motivation letter. The duration of the RPF project is initially set for two years, with the possibility of extension for a third year. You will be based at the Roche site located in Zürichwith possibility to visit the Roche site located in Basel based on project needs.
