The Roche Innovation Center Zurich (Schlieren, Switzerland) is active in the research and development of engineered therapeutic antibodies, with a focus on the fields of cancer immunotherapy and immunotherapy in general. Part of the Roche Group since 2005, it employs about 180 people.
This internship offers the opportunity to work with the Data Science Department and to interact closely with a team of scientists with mixed backgrounds and capabilities applying advanced analytics to deepening our biological understanding and ultimately developing new medicines.
Your main tasks and responsibilities also include:
Analysis of public and in-house single-cell sequencing data, mostly in the area of oncology and immunology
Application of machine learning methods for batch correction and automated cell type annotation
Utilize results to address biological questions in the area of cancer immunotherapy
Data curation and integration
Align activities with a cross-functional and international team

You are enrolled in or have recently completed your Master degree (not longer than 12 months ago) within computational biology, biology, biotechnology, informatics, pharmaceutical sciences, engineering or a related field. You are motivated to increase and share your theoretical and practical knowledge on this emerging and exciting field of data science and biology. You are an enthusiast of new technologies and you easily show engagement with people.
We are looking for the following qualifications:
Hands-on experience with programming, preferably in Python
Experience in quantitative biological data analysis, machine learning a plus
Basic biological understanding, preferably in immunology and oncology
Excellent organizational skills and a flexible approach to coordinate demanding workloads as well as the ability to adapt to changes
Ability to work effectively and independently within a diverse group of people
Written and verbal English is mandatory
