The Position
The External Data Asset Management (EDAM) team is a team of technical specialists, software engineers, and data stewards, providing a data sharing and analysis platform for medical data (clinical data and real-world data). This platform is used by various teams within Roche.
The EDAM team has developed an internal web application to make the datasets hosted on the platform FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), and to support data lifecycle management (dataset onboarding, access and use restrictions, access requests, third-party access, contract expiration, data deletion, etc.).
EDAM software engineers are full-stack developers responsible for maintaining and enhancing this web application and developing various tools to support the team's activities. By actively collaborating with other EDAM team members and with external stakeholders, they gather and prioritize feature requests, design technical solutions, select/integrate existing third-party technologies and implement features in an Agile fashion.
In this role, you will:
Join the software engineering team and contribute to the development of our internal web application
Understand the business needs of our internal clients (data scientists) and provide services related to data life-cycle management.
Actively contribute to team meetings (local and global) and discussions
Implement new and innovative technologies as appropriate to business needs
Identify opportunities to improve business processes, adhere to established business processes, and encourage consistent approaches to MDIS accountabilities
Be responsible for the support of our users
Develop front- and back-end features and ensure an excellent user experience.
Who you are
You are currently a Master's student in computer science or a related field. You ideally bring the following knowledge/experience:
Proficiency in Python and modern JavaScript (ES2019)
Experience with modern web development and knowledge of the Jamstack architecture is a plus
Experience with the following technologies: React (Next.js is a plus), Django
Experience designing REST APIs
Proficiency in SQL, experience with relational database systems, and experience working with an ORM is a plus
Experience with container technologies is a plus (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
Experience working on a codebase as a team, using Git or similar tools
Experience with CI/CD is a plus
Experience working with an Agile methodology is a plus
Notions about User Experience - you enjoy building user-friendly interfaces
Notions about web security-related topics
Knowledge of ElasticSearch or OpenSearch is a plus
Knowledge of and/or experience working with AWS, or any other cloud provider, is a plus
In addition, you have the following skills and mindset:
