The Position
The Intern will work in the Organoid Development Group within the Institute for Translational Bioengineering (ITB) whose goal is to disrupt the traditional drug discovery process through innovation/big and bold ideas focused on advancing our ability to use more predictive human model systems. The Intern will develop an organoid high-throughput screen using whole-mount immunohistochemistry and confocal microscopy. The project involves both experimental and computational work.
The core tasks and responsibilities include the following
Assist with organoid culture for a high-throughput screen.
Establish a whole-mount immunohistochemistry assay for organoid phenotyping.
Implement the screen together with other ITB scientists.
Assist with image processing and data analysis.
Generate high-quality results for peer-reviewed publications.
Who You Are
B.Sc., M.S. or equivalent degree in biotechnology, molecular biology, developmental biology or related field.
Experience with stem cell and organoid culture, immunohistochemistry and fluorescence microscopy. Experience in automation and training in computation is a plus.
Proven experience in conducting research, including designing, executing and interpreting experiments, as demonstrated by previous publications/training experiences.
Outstanding communication skills, strong passion and commitment to science and work well within a group.
Ability to work independently, quickly set up effective networks and working relationships
The preferred start date is July 2022.
